Annual Habitation Check Motorhomes & Caravans

CARACHECK offer a comprehensive habitation check to ensure your caravan or motorhome stays safe, dry, and road-ready. Our habitation checks detect early signs of wear, tear, and water ingress before they lead to costly repairs.

What We Check And Why:

-    Roof / Hatch Silicone and Joins/Seams Inspection
Why? Detecting silicone degradation early is key to preventing roof leaks and costly repairs later. Roofs and silicone take a beating from New Zealand’s UV and, combined with our twisting roads, put silicone joints under significant pressure, which creates gaps and ultimately leaks.

-    Roofs / Pooling
Why? Pooling on roofs around seams and joins is a disaster waiting to happen. When silicone breaks, the pooling water can enter the vehicle, causing moisture damage. Pooling water can sit for a long time and degrades silicone and joins.     

-    External Underfloor / Chassis
Why? Catching external floor rot early avoids issues such as failed WOFs and COFs, as more than 50mm of floor rot now equals a fail at the testing station. We also look for surface rust and any other under-vehicle damage or issues.

-    External Under Vehicle Pipes / Tanks
Why? While we are under the vehicle, inspecting the floor, we check the pipe work and tanks for any damage or leaks.

-    Internal Non-Invasive Moisture Test
Why? We check the vehicle for moisture that typically enters through the roof/hatches and/or around and under windows. Catching moisture early allows for cheaper repairs and vehicle integrity.

-    House Battery Health Test
Why? We measure the ‘State of Health’ of your batteries so you can plan replacements well before they fail during a trip! Note that our testing is limited to AGM batteries at present.

-    Fire Extinguisher, Co2 and Smoke Alarm
We test your alarms and replace all batteries. We also check the pressure of your onboard fire extinguisher.   

-    Fresh Water Tank Test
We test the fresh water in your water tank for the presence of grime, pollution, solids, or chemicals that may have entered your fresh water supply or water tank.
